Reflections: is an anthology of poetry and creative non-fiction designed to express our unique backgrounds, thoughts, and memories as Canadians. Today, along with genealogy, writing ‘creative non-fiction’ has become a force that propels many to pick up a pen or sit at a computer and capture our life’s moments on paper, a tablet, or screen, to share our legacy of personal experience. Story telling is a universal desire that makes us uniquely human.
The collection contains essential truths about people, times and places and explores a myriad of complex emotions. This collection by a group of creative elders shares both simple and complex life experiences with you as they define what, for them, shapes the Canadian experience. Writers included in the collection include Phyllis Atkinson, Joy Barratt, Bonnie Hamilton, Diana Jewell, Joyce Kelly-Grant, Allen Larson, Rosa Maravella, Libby Marcellus, Nadine Schellar, Sharon Syrette, Judy Teague, Ron Williams
The Lifetime Learning Centre Society has offered the Family History and Memoir writing class, “I Have a Story to Tell” since 2014; All participants started with a desire to write, and to learn from one another about the writing process. A number of these writers have gone on to publish books of poetry, self-help, and community history.
