Valley Women’s Network

The Valley Women’s Network is dedicated to bringing together women from all walks of life so they may share and support each other’s goals and common interests

The Valley Women’s Network brings together women from all walks of life to share and support each other’s goals and common interests, siome to make business alliances, and to enjoy fun and laughter. Through common social concerns, to exchanging ideas and strategies, we encourage both learning from peers, enjoying speakers, and setting a positive example for others.   We meet over lunch, on a monthly basis  in a welcoming environment,  and to make friends. We support all women in all walks of life, although many members have a home-based business.  A volunteer Coordinating Committee manages admin details, issues a monthly newsletter, and updates our facebook page.  The Mission VWN has two annual ‘pop up’ markets for members show off their talents and products.

Valley Women’s  Network was started in 1981 by 3 women: Ellen Dixon, Darlene …. and Sharon Syrette by hosting a dinner meeting at the Chilliwack golf course, attended by over 50 women!  Within a few weeks, a volunteer Coordinatiing Committee was formed,  to organize monthly get-togethers in Chiliwackm  Abbotsford and Mission.  Quickly, new ‘chapters’ were formed, each with an independent structure.

The Network has always been a non-partisan, non-religious, non-affiliated group and does not have any particular single focus  of interest. It does not lobby for any cause or idea, or raise funds for charities (although many  individual members are active in a variety of other groups from theatre, to educcation, to cats).  Members are encouraged to share news about their interests and community events through a monthly newsletter and announcements at the luncheons.

The group provides a great place for newcomers to the community, as well as to long-time residents wanting to expand their network and friendships.
